About Gym Star
While serving 12 and a half years for a robbery he didn’t commit, Gym Star changed his name and his life in prison and shed more than 60 pounds of fat using nothing more than body weight exercises in his prison cell. With a new mindset and body to match, he began designing body weight workout programs to help others adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle.
Today, less than a year after his release, Gym Star has worked with some of the biggest names in the fitness industry; has trained clients ranging from teenagers to senior citizens; is in the process of building his fitness studio; and has launched a respected clothing and apparel brand that has New York City buzzing. His powerful presence on Instagram (@iamgymstar) has gained him an invitation from NBC producers to tryout for the hit show American Ninja Warrior. He’s also landed the opportunity to train with pro athletes from the International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness.
Gym Star is currently in the process of securing a location in Bedstuy Brooklyn to setup Gym Star Recreation–a ninja warrior obstacle gym. Appalled by the fact that obesity has tripled among children and adolescents since 1970, Gym Star plans to employ high school teens at “Gym Rec” to help him launch and run initiatives that educate younger kids on the importance of living healthy lifestyles while reducing obesity in their community.
